16th April 2008: Global Leadership & Technology Exchange (GLTE) - First Global Meeting of 2008

At an extremely engaging Global Inter-company Exchange of the GLTE, hosted by Wilh. Wilhelmsen in Oslo today, it was announced that the membership of the consortium to address Total Energy Management in different industry sectors has expanded to ten, with several more expected in the next month. In addition to the participation by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), Shell, Wilh. Wilhelmsen, Gazprom, Tata, Yara and World Trade Centers Association, we are pleased to announce the membership of Deutsche Bank, General Motors and StatoilHydro. This level of participation is designed to discover growth solutions in the low carbon economy to tackle the pressing issues of energy and environment through the medium of collaborative innovation.

The meeting itself was characterised by a balance of external inputs from Carl-Peter Forster (GM Europe), Percy Barnevik (Hand in Hand), Frederic Hauge (CEO of Bellona), Lord Oxburgh of Liverpool, Alexander Medvedev (Gazprom), Wolfgang Dehen (Siemens), Jamshed Irani (Tata) and Edward Chandler (Deutsche Bank) amongst others, and intense 'hothouses' where small groups worked some of the issues and forged new alliances. The whole event was moderated by Maria Borelius-Larsson (CEO, Hand in Hand) and Todd Benjamin of CNN.
